General Summary
The Assistant Speech Team Coach is responsible for advising and overseeing the activities, practices, and competitions of the Illinois High School Association and the Athletic Conference. The Speech Team promotes academic excellence and performance by students. The Speech Team is an organization that provides students with the opportunity to find their voice and bring light to issues often overlooked in society through speech competition where students represent the best of our school.
Additional Information
The coach is expected to carry out the School's responsibility in contributing to the educational development of the student through their work with the activity. The coach teaches important skills relevant to the activity, promotes teamwork, self-discipline, sportsmanship and leadership in a supportive environment that fosters personal growth.
Required Qualifications
1. Qualified to Coach Speech: Individuals Events per IHSA by-laws
2. Valid Driver's License
3. Must have knowledge of the technical aspects of the activity
and, at the same time, be open to new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
4. Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
Work Hours
Much of the work occurs after 3:00 p.m. and on weekends in and around schools.
