Job Summary

The primary role of this position is data mining, analysis, and reporting for Enrollment Management and Academic Services (EMAS) departments across campus, as well as external organizations such as National Student Clearinghouse. This includes querying, data validation, and error resolution, while adhering to FERPA and FOIA regulations and University policies. This position assists in the validation of Student Information System updates and functional issues as they relate to student academic records and data and participates on the grade processing team, which includes data mining, grade posting, and grade and repeat reconciliation processes.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$19.00 - $20.00 per hour

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Two years (24 months) of full-time (or part-time equivalent) professional work experience with data queries, validating outputs, error resolution, and researching and resolving discrepancies with the data
  3. Experience working within a student information system, preferably PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  4. Excellent organizational and analytical skills to assist in data output verification
  5. Business background and data mining/query experience
  6. The following skills and/or abilities:
    a. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    b. Excellent oral and written communication skills
    c. Ability to communicate policies effectively and politely on the telephone, email, and in person
    d. Ability to work efficiently, apply critical attention to detail, and adhere to deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
    e. Ability to work in an environment with many distractions and interruptions

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Two years of experience specifically querying student data and resolving student data discrepancies
  2. Experience working with PeopleSoft Query Manager
  3. A general understanding of Illinois State University catalog policies regarding curriculum, academic/program requirements, and degree requirements

Work Hours

8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.

Residency Requirement: If hired, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days from the start date for this position.
