Job Summary

University Assessment Services (UAS) provides leadership and support for institutional assessment, academic program assessment, and program evaluation across Illinois State University. UAS collaborates with academic and administrative units to develop meaningful assessment processes, foster a culture of evidence-informed decision making, and improve student learning and institutional effectiveness. The office provides consultation, professional development, data analytics, reporting, and technology solutions to support assessment and accreditation activities. The Assistant Director coordinates assessment initiatives through consultation, data analysis, assessment systems administration, and faculty support. The position collaborates closely with academic and administrative units, the Office of the Provost, and other campus partners to advance assessment practices and continuous improvement across the University.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$71,064 annual

Required Qualifications

  1. Master's or equivalent degree in education, psychology, research methods, or a related field.
  2. Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in higher education assessment, accreditation, institutional effectiveness, program evaluation, or quality improvement.
  3. Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting assessment processes within a higher education environment.
  4. Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and communicating findings to a variety of audiences.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and experience using data analysis, reporting, or assessment technologies. Competence in or ability to learn assessment related applications like Qualtrics, Nvivo, and/or SPSS.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience using technology to support assessment, data collection, analysis, reporting, and workflow management, with the ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new applications.

Work Hours

Core hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
  3. Remain at a workstation for extended periods of time.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
