Job Summary

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Illinois State University invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position beginning August 16, 2027. We are seeking qualified candidates in speech-language pathology, with particular expertise in Adult Neurogenic Communication Disorders. The position is a nine-month, tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with the possibility of summer teaching and of shaping the online MS Speech-Language Pathology Program. The successful candidate will join a collaborative faculty committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, student mentorship, service, and community engagement. The position will primarily support and develop graduate instruction in the Department’s online MS in Speech-Language Pathology program, with opportunities to teach in person as departmental needs arise. The successful candidate may also have opportunities to contribute to the continued development and shaping of the online program.

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining an active program of scholarly research and publication, effective graduate and undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, and service to the Department, College, University, and profession. Teaching responsibilities will primarily be in the online MS in Speech-Language Pathology program, with the possibility of in-person teaching based on departmental needs. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development and other academic activities in areas aligned with their expertise and will have opportunities to contribute to the continued development of the online program.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) has built a strong reputation for scholarly work. It currently has 27 full-time academic and clinical faculty and over 300 undergraduate majors. The department’s graduate programs enroll over 70 students in the master’s degree program in speech-language pathology, and over 30 students in the four-year audiology clinical doctorate program. Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$72,830 - $88,000

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent earned doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or a closely related field by the time of appointment
• Expertise in Adult Neurogenic Communication Disorders
• Experience with online, hybrid, and in person instruction
• Oral proficiency in the English language as required by state law
