Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director-Marketing in the development of all marketing efforts for the department. Responsibilities include the following:
1. Provide supervision and mentoring to student marketing team, including delegation of work assignments for print and multi-media and providing feedback/evaluations of work.
2. Provide regular management of social media presence for the department to include scheduling and writing/editing of content.
3. Present on behalf of the department during campus and community outreach activities and coordinate staff involved in similar efforts.
4. Provide graphic design, photography, and video support when necessary.
5. Develop and distribute department updates.
6. Contribute to website reviews and updates.
7. Distribute department promotional materials throughout campus locations.
8. Assist in the recruitment and training of student marketing and design team.
9. Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by the department.

The Marketing Graduate Assistant will assist in the development and implementation of the department’s marketing efforts. This position will afford an opportunity to assist in a variety of marketing initiatives including advertising, promotions, campus outreach, social media, video creation, and staff training. This position plays a key role in assisting with the overall marketing of the 170,000 sq. ft. Student Fitness Center, the Redbird Adventure Center, the Bowling and Billiards Center, and the programs and services provided to our university campus.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$2,024 per month
Required Qualifications

2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following programs: Communication, Marketing, Recreation Administration
3. To be considered for a graduate assistantship, a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work is required. GRE may be required for some programs.
4. Valid Driver’s License and/or ability to obtain valid Driver’s License required.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Preferred background in graphic design using Adobe software, familiarity using a variety of social media platforms, strong written communication skills, and experience with website management. Photography and video editing experience also preferred.
2. Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written, are expected.
3. Willingness to work in a team environment and provide and uphold our quality standards and values.

This is a 9 1/2 month Graduate Assistantship, with a contract period August 1, 2025 - May 15, 2026. As a GA, you will be expected to adhere to the University Administrative Calendar and all expectations as set forth in the offer letter. An extension of this appointment is available, pending satisfactory performance.

You must be eligible for employment in the United States and at Illinois State University and/or for the number of hours required for the position.
Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
