Job Summary
As our editorial Intern, you will help us get the word out about all the great things going on at Illinois State University by writing stories for the University's News system (News.IllinoisState.edu) and editing text in University Marketing and Communications projects. You may also have the opportunity to write for our print publications. You will be expected to cover events, sometimes outside your regularly scheduled hours, and interview multiple subjects for most stories. This internship will help hone professional skills such as writing, interviewing, organization, editing, and teamwork. Additionally, you will get the opportunity to network with professionals throughout campus.
Duties include:
- Writing and reporting for stories
- Editing and proofreading
Additional Information
The successful candidate would work 10 hours/week for 16 weeks each semester during the 2025-26 academic year.

Pay Rate
$15/hour
Required Qualifications
Must be professional, highly motivated, personable, timely, and detail oriented with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Must be in good standing with both academic and University conduct at time of application and throughout employment
Preferred Qualifications
Strong writing, copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills
Basic photography skills, with the ability to do slight edits to photos a plus
Knowledge of various social media platforms, preferably with a background in creating content for an organization
Work Hours
Negotiable but must be completed while the University is open (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.).

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable, an employment history review, based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review.
