Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Education Abroad is the primary university representative responsible for assisting with the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of Education Abroad programs, including outgoing exchange programs, faculty-led programs, international internships, outreach, evaluation, budget development, advisement, recruitment, orientation programming, and crisis management. This activity supports the broader university goal of nurturing diversity and inclusion according to the University's strategic plan.
The Assistant Director is responsible for collaborating with campus stakeholders on matters relative to Education Abroad. The individual in this position also assists with the negotiation and implementation of agreements, as well as in the development of new overseas programs. The Assistant Director interacts with a diverse clientele (e.g., students, faculty, parents, staff, administrators, independent agencies, domestic and overseas institutions, and counterparts abroad).

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$49,600 - $52,000 annual
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three years (36 months) of experience in study abroad program administration, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of study abroad programs
- Experience living or studying abroad
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse stakeholders – including students, faculty, parents, university leaders, and institutions – and managing study abroad budgets
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in the following:
a. developing and/or managing faculty and student mobility agreements with foreign universities/third party study abroad providers
b. managing risk and/or emergencies in study abroad
c. providing leadership and/or training to a Study Abroad team - Experience advising and supporting ISU Study Abroad
Work Hours
Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions.
