Job Summary
The Assistant Director of International Admissions will assist international students applying to Illinois State University in a variety of programs: Undergraduate and Graduate Pathways, Academic English programs, special short term programs, and undergraduate and graduate direct entry programs.
The individual in this position oversees the successful admission of eligible students to ISU and is responsible for maintaining ethical recruitment standards, representing the University's interests specifically in areas related to the University's admission process, and supporting established requirements. They will demonstrate knowledge of educational systems abroad and continuously strive to improve operational systems, processes, and policies in support of ISU's internationalization goals as they relate to the recruitment and admission of international students.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$62,000 - $65,000 annual
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Three years (36 months) of experience providing leadership, resolving issues, or providing technology solutions to an international admissions unit
- Knowledge of information systems
- The following skills and abilities:
a. demonstrated ability to lead complex projects to completion
b. strong staff management skills
c. strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills, along with a high degree of professionalism
d. highly collaborative
e. demonstrated ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations.
f. ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, work under pressure and with minimal resources when necessary
g. strong analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills - Ability to meet Designated School Official (DSO) requirements, as federally regulated by the Department of Homeland Security. Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Prior experience working with an international student population
- Knowledge of international education systems
- Experience with public/private partnerships
- Knowledge of Salesforce, Peoplesoft, Terra Dotta, or similar systems
- Experience as a Designated School Official (DSO)
Work Hours
Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday
Functional Expectations

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
