Job Summary
This position serves as administrative support for the department and as receptionist and support to the advising staff in the Department of Special Education.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$19.06 - $19.71 per hour
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Twenty-four (24) months of work experience comparable to the third level of this series. This work includes performing a wide variety of office support tasks, which require the use of judgment and initiative and the ability to operate computer systems, using word processing, database, and software packages. Knowledge of the organization, programs, practices, and procedures of a department/unit is central to the performance of the duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exceptional communication skills and strong organizational skills.
- Extensive office/clerical/administrative support experience with excellent people skills, patience, and ability to multi-task.
- Possession of strong computer knowledge and skills, particularly in working with Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher programs.
- Knowledge of department/advising unit, university procedures in various departments, and departmental programs.
- Working knowledge of the Illinois State University Campus Solutions system and an understanding of the Student Warehouse Database system (COGNOS), Slate, and Achieve.
- Attention to detail and understanding of the importance of completing a job thoroughly and working within given deadlines.
- Ability to:
a. retain and disseminate information in an accurate and professional manner.
b. work with the public, under pressure, and with interruptions in a multi-functional office independent of supervision.
c. adhere to high ethical standards, using good judgment, confidentiality, and discretion.
d. provide suggestions and develop and initiate new procedures to enhance the efficiency of the unit.
Work Hours
Typically 9:00am-12:45pm Monday through Friday but can be flexible
