Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to aid the Center for Mathematics, Science, & Technology's Outreach operations; to help with the internal and external operations of the annual National Science Foundation-funded, Midwest Regional Robert Noyce Conference project; coordinating conferences and group meetings; working within the confines of budgets; extensively communicating with registrants and guest speakers; writing press releases; managing the registration and follow-up processes; maintaining a database of conference attendees; performing web-based client relations tasks; and miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Additional Information
This is a non-continuous, grant funded position. The initial appointment will end on 10-31-2024, the end of the current grant year. Appointment renewal for the following grant year will be based upon available grant funding and performance.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$18 - $25 per hour
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in STEM, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, or Education-related field
2. Well-organized and self-motivated
3. Excellent attention to detail
4. Demonstrated knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
5. Valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications
1. One (1) year of experience in event planning of large conferences with 250 attendees.
2. Experience in clerical work in an office.
3. Familiarity with both Microsoft and Apple O/S.
4. Experience with the following software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, GOTO Meeting, and Zoom.
5. Ability to easily and quickly adapt to a varied and unpredictable workload.
Work Hours
Flex schedule. 19 hours per week mostly during normal business hours, but may involve some evening and weekend as business needs dictate.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
