Job Summary
The Multicultural Center (MCC) at Illinois State University is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Student Marketing & Social Media Assistant to support digital content creation and social media management. This role works closely with the Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications to promote MCC programs, initiatives, and services through visual and written content across digital platforms.
This position is ideal for a student interested in marketing, communications, media, advertising, public relations, or creative technologies, and who wants hands-on experience managing real institutional social media accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit short-form and long-form videos for Instagram, and TikTok.
- Capture photo and video content for MCC programs, events, and initiatives, including appearing in select videos as needed.
- Create and maintain a content calendar aligned with MCC campaigns and priorities.
- Draft clear, engaging captions and post copy using established brand guidelines.
- Manage and schedule posts across social media platforms.
- Monitor engagement and trends to inform content ideas.
- Assist with brainstorming campaign concepts and storytelling ideas.
- Support additional marketing and communications projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications
● Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
● Basic video editing skills (CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
● Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
● Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience creating social media content for an organization or brand.
● Photography or videography experience.
● Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
Work Hours
8 hours per week.

Special Instructions for Applicants
