Job Summary
University College Academic Peer Advisors (APAs) assist students with developing academic plans and connecting them with campus resources through professional advice and personal experience.
Peer Advisors have the following job responsibilities:
Assist the University College Advising office with answering phone calls, checking-in students in the reception area, scheduling appointments for advising staff, and providing timely and accurate information to appropriate University offices
Assist full-time professional advisors in helping students (primarily in their first year) successfully transition academically at Illinois State University
Assist in the delivery of University College programs and services, which may include public presentations
Acquire a general knowledge of University programs, services, and policies including all applicable academic deadlines
Dates of employment:
August 13, 2026-May 7, 2027 (May include University breaks)
Optional summer availability from May 18-August 12, 2026 (Dependent on office needs for Preview 2026)

Pay Rate
$15.00/hour
Required Qualifications
Current undergraduate students only
Minimum GPA: 2.75
Minimum 1-year commitment
Available for mandatory pre-semester training on August 13, 2026 & August 14, 2026.
Available for mandatory weekly training throughout each semester on Thursdays from 8:00am - 8:50am
Work Hours
8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday
