Job Summary
The PeopleSoft Application Administrator works within a team environment to maintain, optimize, and provide technical expertise for PeopleSoft enterprise information systems (Software Applications and Hardware Components). The incumbent oversees PeopleSoft Applications acting as a part of a cohesive Admin Team overseeing our PeopleSoft HCM and Campus Solutions environments and related add-ons while working with a third-party managed services provider.
Technical Duties Include:
- Direct Application Administration and Maintenance which includes tasks like Software Installation, Configuration and Troubleshooting, Performance Tuning, Monitoring, Change Management, Patching, Automation, and Integrations
- Provide technical analysis around how we use and should adopt and/or modify various functionalities of assigned applications
- Perform Technical Support & Incident Management providing subject-matter expertise on application setup best practices
- Provide basic Database Administration and Analysis including ad-hoc queries for analysis and reporting
- Create, Maintain, and Update System and Configuration Specific documentation
- Create test plans and perform testing on application changes

The Application Services (APPS) team develops, administers, and delivers quality application services to the University. They work on enterprise and business applications, such as PeopleSoft, Canvas, and others.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$70,000 - $82,500 annual
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Any one or any combination totaling two years (24 months) from the following categories:
a. College coursework which includes Information Technology, IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one year (12 months)
- 60 semester hours or Associate’s degree equals 18 months
- 90 semester hours equals two years (24 months)
- Bachelor's or higher degree equals three years (36 months)
b. Progressively more responsible work experience in an application administration related profession - An additional three years (36 months) of experience:
a. in system administration for enterprise applications such as human resource systems, payroll systems, student information systems, or other business systems.
b. performing system administration duties for software applications such as installation, configuration, data integrity/reconciliation, patch management, technical support
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in IT or related field
- Two or more years of experience any or all of the following:
a. Web application servers, ideally WebLogic Web Server Software
b. leveraging server scripting languages such as PowerShell, Perl, CSH, or BASH - Experience in software testing including creating test plans, creating test cases, test execution, and documenting defects
- Experience collecting technical requirements and designing appropriate process and/or software solutions
- Knowledge and experience working with different Server Operating Systems such as Windows Server, Redhat Enterprise Linux
- Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Hardware such as Servers, Storage, Networking, Backups
- An interest in learning new tools and methods
- System Administrator understanding of common technologies used by applications, including backups and event monitoring
- Understanding of 1 or more database applications and relational database concepts such as SQL, ORACLE
- Understanding of relational database concepts, administration, queries (SQL), and ability to use 1 or more common query/reporting tools (SQL Developer, TOAD, Cognos, SSRS, Crystal Reports)
- Strong project, analysis, and research skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Demonstrated ability to:
a. work independently and in a team environment with good communication and collaboration skills
b. work with considerable latitude and independence of action
c. clearly communicate complex technical concepts verbally and in writing to management, technical staff, and customers in terms appropriate for each audience
d. analyze large amounts of detailed information, quickly understand complex issues, and break information down into smaller pieces more manageable pieces
e. leverage Microsoft Visio, and Excel
f. adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements
Work Hours
Core Hours: Generally normal business hours (8:00am - 4:30pm); weekend or after-hours work may be required to support change management or disaster recovery.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions.
