Job Summary
Key roles for this position are to develop, operate, and assist with the design of building automation systems. This position oversees and supports the maintenance, repair and record keeping of the building automation systems controlling the HVAC equipment for the entire campus through the Power Plant. This equipment also monitors various systems including kitchen equipment and fire alarm systems. In addition, the supervisory portion of this position involves decision making and follow-up on all requests for HVAC automation problems.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$47.44 per hour
Required Qualifications
1. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
A. course work in building automation systems, electrical engineering, HVAC technology or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. work experience involving maintenance of a building automation system.
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of full time (or part-time equivalent) work experience performing routine technical building automation duties.
Preferred Qualifications
1. One year of supervisory experience.
2. High School diploma or equivalent.
3. Trade School, University or factory training.
4. Ability to work with a wide variety of University personnel.
5. Ability to organize and plan.
6. Ability to resolve problems and follow-up with outcome.
Work Hours
Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Must be physically able to gain access to all areas related to Heating Plant work including climbing stairs and ladders, walking through tunnels (which requires stooping, crawling & bending), and gaining access to and working on roofs, mechanical rooms, fan rooms/ventilation shafts, and basements.
2. Ability to climb, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach overhead.
3. Visual acuity to discern basic wiring and piping color codes.
4. Work in confined spaces.
5. Work in both hot and cold environments.
6. Ability to speak and hear clearly.
7. Manual dexterity to use hand tools.
8. Occasional lifting of related tools and equipment up to 40 lbs.
