Job Summary
Health Sciences (HSC) at Illinois State prepares students for a rewarding career that makes a positive impact on people's lives. This position would support The Health Sciences Student Ambassador’s Association (HSSAA) and the Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC) efforts.
HSSAA focuses on engagement, student retention, and leadership development by fostering a sense of belonging among HSC majors. HSSAA hosts department's events, serve as an ad hoc advisory group, and support the efforts of the department's Diversity, Equity, Belonging and Inclusion (DEBI) committee.
This position would help to expand HSC student engagement events and encourage leadership development among the ambassadors and among the students in the department.
AHEC works to support and develop the health and healthcare workforce through 1) Career exploration for secondary education students, 2) educational enrichment programs for collegiate-level health professions students, 3) professional development for current health professionals, 4) support for community health efforts. This position provides leadership, planning, and coordination of activities and events for support for Central IL AHEC programming and capacity development. This means programming events, communicating with AHEC scholars, coordinating with affiliate departments and faculty across campus; assisting with fundraising and grant applications; meeting with community leaders; speaking publicly at meetings and events representing the program.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$1510 Monthly Stipend
Required Qualifications
1. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University admitted in the MPH-ACED program.
2. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf

International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
