Job Summary
Peer Success Advocates in University College contribute to student persistence and retention through proactive outreach efforts. Peer Success Advocates are trained by University College to address academic barriers and connect students to appropriate campus resources and services.
Duties will include:
1. Help students resolve barriers that impact their success.
2. Proactive outreach via phone and email to Illinois State students.
3. Meet 1:1 with students to discuss personal and academic concerns.
4. Connect students to Illinois State support services.
5. Maintain accurate appointment notes and privacy of student information.

Pay Rate
$15.00/hour
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have an overall GPA of at least 2.75 and at least 24 hours earned at Illinois State University. Must be available to work two semesters in a row. Must have a strong understanding of campus resources and services.
Applicants must be in good standing with Illinois State University as it relates to student conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and professional demeanor. Additional skills or experiences that are desired include: strong interpersonal skills; mentoring peers in an educational setting; comfort in working with individuals with different backgrounds and identities.
Work Hours
Between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday. Position occasionally requires work beyond the regular hours for special events and activities.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without reasonable accommodations:
Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
Effectively communicate on a daily basis.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable, an employment history review, based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review.
