Job Summary
The Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) unit of the Dean of Students Office provides engaging leadership experiences to student learners at all levels of leadership readiness. The graduate assistant will coordinate program logistics, supervise student employees, assess programs/initiatives, and consult with student organizations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in coordinating leadership programs, including but not limited to contract preparation, budgeting, scheduling speakers and site visits, program logistics, program assessment, program facilitation, training and developing student facilitators.
2. Assist with the planning and implementation of student leader/organization retreats, recognition ceremonies, and training workshops.
3. Serve as a Dean of Students Office staff member, participating in regular staff meetings, trainings, required professional development sessions, department committees, and supporting office functions and events (including but not limited to Welcome Week, Festival ISU, and Commencement).
4. Serve as a University representative for Dean of Students Office programs, on and off campus, as business needs dictate and travel with students to conferences and workshops (may include driving University vehicles). Perform the duties and functions for Leadership Education and Development and the Dean of Students Office.
Additional Information
Preferred qualifications include a graduate student in their second year of their program or a student with full-time work experience on a college campus. Graduate assistants in the Dean of Students Office must maintain good disciplinary standing to retain their position.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$1510 per month
Required Qualifications

2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following areas: College Student Personnel Administration, Communication, Recreation Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, MBA, Technology, Teaching and Learning
Work Hours
Generally Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; some evening and weekend hours required. This is a 10-month position with an average of 20 hours/week.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
