Job Summary
Under the administrative review of the Dean of Milner Library this person is responsible for the business operations of Milner Library ensuring sound fiscal management and balanced budgets. This includes planning budgets and spending patterns with the Dean; determining which funding source is appropriate to route and pay expenses; independently processing all library, agency, restricted, and foundation expenses; and independently monitoring all library accounts and budgets. The incumbent will reconcile library materials budgets with the current system, and reconcile internal bookkeeping systems with university accounting system, as well as oversee and analyze internal budgets with multiple programs and databases. The incumbent will prepare budget reports and analyses for the Dean and other administrative personnel, as appropriate. This position also serves as the liaison with the ISU Human Resources Department and is responsible for ensuring compliance with university and governmental procedures for personnel hiring, position changes and records retention.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$65,000 - $75,000 annual, commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
2. Five (5) years of professional level accounting, financial, managerial and/or business experience.
3. Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in:
a. automated data processing systems
b. handling varying and complex budgets, including multiple budgets at one time and personnel budgets.
4. Demonstrate expertise in using Excel, Access, Windows, Word, and other common software applications.
5. Demonstrate ability and willingness to:
a. manage multiple tasks and priorities with frequent interruptions.
b. perform repetitive duties and detailed work
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Effective interpersonal skills to interact with library faculty and staff, university personnel, service providers, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in:
a. University purchasing procedures with regards to vendor contracts for services and goods.
b. accounting and budgeting.
2. Demonstrate ability and willingness to:
a. understand and apply University accounting practices, policies, and procedures.
b. be a self-starter with ability to work with minimal day to day direct supervision, make decisions, and solve problems independently.
c. construct management information reports and analyses for the library dean and other administrators as requested.
3. Excellent time management and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
Work Hours
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
