Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Marketing and Assessment in the development of all marketing/assessment efforts for the department and VPSA initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to:
• (30%) - Manage and assign graphic design and multimedia projects to student workers. Responsible for monitoring projects to completion for the Assistant Director’s approval.
• (30%) - Assess and analyze social media trends and data to develop content for social media channels. Develop measurable media strategies grounded in objectives and college student insights to guide student engagement growth on all platforms.
• (30%) - Assist with composing department news, articles, and stories. Assist with compiling information needed for departmental press releases and community alerts.
• (5%) - Assist with survey development, execution, and compilation as needed for the department’s assessment efforts.
• (5%) - Contribute to website reviews and updates, including content, design, and interactive media.
• Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by the department.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$1,510 for 0.5 FTE appointment
Required Qualifications
1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following areas: Art, MBA, Communication, Creative Technologies, College Student Personnel Administration, English, Project Management, Sociology
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity using a variety of social media platforms
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Organization and attention to detail
• Marketing, graphic design, public relations, photography, or videography experience
• Interest in marketing research/assessment
• Ability to plan, work independently, and execute projects from start to finish
Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm by schedule, some nights and weekends required.
