Job Summary
Under general supervision from designated supervisors, to provide assistance in the operation of a campus-recycling program. Incumbent will meet daily with a variety of university customers in the completion of assigned tasks.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$25.88 per hour
Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid/current driver’s license as required by the State of Illinois for the type of motor vehicle(s) to be operated by the incumbent. Please note below.
3. Six (6) months of full time (or part-time equivalent) work experience as a route or commercial delivery driver or closely related experience to the given position.
4. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful results of the pre-employment physical.
*NOTE: Must acquire a Class C (non-CDL) Driver's License within first five (5) months of employment for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
1. High school graduation (or equivalent).
2. Two (2) years of work experience related to driving motor vehicles with gross vehicle weight of 16,000 pounds or more.
3. Thorough knowledge of State of Illinois laws governing the operation of motor vehicle(s) on State highways.
4. Thorough knowledge of traffic regulations enforced in the community in which the campus is located.
5. Skill in the operation of motor vehicle(s) with electric lift gate.
6. Skill in operating power equipment such as a forklift (whether propane or electric).
7. Experience working with heavy machinery.
8. Knowledge of the end-market recycling process.
9. Pass required State of Illinois certifications.
Work Hours
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:00 pm
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
2. Ability to climb, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach overhead.
3. Ability to push, pull up to 60 lbs.
4. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
