Job Summary
The Academic Advisor supports the College of Engineering in promoting programs and enforcing policies and in assisting undergraduate students in planning and completing their academic and career goals. Provides academic, major, or college specific advising in areas including but not limited to recruitment, major declaration, orientation, enrollment, retention, and graduation

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$55,000-$65,000
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree
2.Evidence of interpersonal communication and listening skills to interact in a culturally inclusive and respectful manner with students, parents/guardians/families, faculty, administrators, staff, and the general public; and to communicate in person, in writing, via Zoom, and by telephone.
3. 2+ years of relevant work experience in academic advisement, or another relevant student facing area of Higher Education such as student services.
4. Knowledge, skills, and abilities to function autonomously as an academic advisor for relevant programs
5. Knowledge of word processing, spread sheets, databases
6. Demonstrated experience meeting the educational needs of diverse student populations including, but not limited to, students with diverse abilities, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic backgrounds, and religions.
7. Valid State of Illinois driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's Degree, preferably in Education, College Student Personnel or related field
2. Professional advising experience or demonstrated equivalent experience
Work Hours
Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
Functional Expectations
1. Effectively communicate daily.
2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work,
3. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
4. Collaborate with University College colleagues and other campus partners
