General Summary
The School of Teaching and Learning seeks to build a pool of non-tenure-track instructor, clinical instructor, and/or student teaching supervisor applicants to be drawn from during the 2024-2025 academic year. Applications are accepted continuously and reviewed as vacancies become available. There may not be an actual vacancy at the time you apply. Positions are part-time and may only be for one semester at a time, depending on School needs. These positions are represented by the Illinois State University Education Association and may have associated dues or fees.
Course Instructors:
All applicants with Early Childhood, Elementary, Elementary Bilingual/ESL, Middle Level and Secondary teaching experience are encouraged to apply. Needs within the School of Teaching and Learning vary by semester. Current needs include:
Early Childhood: literacy, science, social studies
Elementary: generalist, literacy, science, social studies
Elementary Bilingual/ESL: generalist
Secondary: generalist, literacy
Clinical Course Instructors:
Mentoring experience is preferred. Clinical Course Instructors are required to visit placement schools, observe and support both teacher candidates and cooperating teachers. Clinical course requirements for on-campus teaching vary by program (early childhood, elementary, middle level), and collaboration with other clinical block instructors is required.
Student Teaching Supervisors:
Mentoring experience is preferred. Supervisors are required to visit placement schools, observe student teachers, provide seminars related to current trends in education, and be available as a mentor to student teachers and cooperating teachers. Supervisors are assigned particular regions and may mentor student teachers from the following programs: early childhood, elementary, elementary bilingual/ESL, and middle level. We are currently seeking to build pools in the Chicago and surrounding areas and in Central Illinois. Supervisors may be asked to observe in locations up to an hour's drive from their home for the duration of a semester.
Additional Information
The School of Teaching and Learning is home to four undergraduate teacher preparation programs and three graduate programs. In addition, students from every undergraduate teacher preparation program take courses within our school.

All programs in the school are fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and the Illinois State Board of Education.
Required Qualifications
1. Master's degree or higher required.
2. Three years teaching experience and/or related professional education experience.
3. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and teacher preparation.
4. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
Desired Qualifications
1. College teaching experience.
2. Mentoring experience.
3. Proficiency in technology.
