Job Summary
The Associate Director of Construction Services is responsible for assisting the Director with leading and overseeing the Construction team within Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction. This position is responsible for overseeing project managers, project management, estimating, construction, and project construction communications. This position is instrumental in the development, implementation, and overall management of assigned University capital construction projects. This position is involved in commissioning, project documentation, close-out, and project information archive management services, design guideline updates, and the project design review process.
Additional Information
This position requires good interpersonal skills for conducting in person, telephone, and written communications with all levels of the University community and a wide spectrum of internal and external entities and agencies including consultants, vendors, architects, engineers, interior designers, contractors, tradespeople, suppliers, furniture suppliers, etc. Required communications range from project and schedule information communications, requests for information, assistance, or service, to more complicated inquiries related to planned construction work or work in progress.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$120,000 - $140,000/annual
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s (or higher) degree.
2. Three (3) years (36 months) of full time (or part time equivalent) professional level work experience in building construction management, building project management, or a closely related field, of which one (1) year (12 months) must have included supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with MS Project, and University Facility Management software programs
2. Knowledge of State of Illinois and Illinois State University purchasing requirements
3. Knowledge of Illinois State University Design Guidelines
4. Knowledge and experience with construction project manuals and specifications
5. Knowledge of the ISU University campus
Work Hours
Core work hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; business needs may require additional hours outside the core schedule
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1.Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffold climbing structures and accessing roofs.
2.Ability to perform investigative work in ceiling spaces, tunnels and confined or congested spaces.
3.Ability to perform occasional investigative work involving crawling, kneeling, and or climbing to maneuver through tight building spaces.
4.Ability to work in tunnels and confined or congested spaces. It is necessary to be able to crawl, kneel, and or climb to maneuver through tunnels.
5. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
6. Move about campus in various locations as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
