Job Summary
The Illinois State University Athletics Department is committed to academic and athletic excellence as it prepares today's student-athletes to become tomorrow's leaders. This position directly contributes to that mission by directing and coordinating the management of intercollegiate athletic events. This position is responsible for planning, organizing; staffing and managing assigned intercollegiate athletic events and activities; and serving as Director of Championship events. While the position is primarily focused on athletic event operations, it also provides support for key facility functions, including operational readiness and safety. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality game day experiences for student-athletes, fans, and visiting teams. It oversees all gameday staff personnel, ensuring they are properly trained, scheduled, and performing at a high level while maintaining safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$52,000 - $54,000 annual
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Student Affairs, Sports Management, or a closely related field.
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of professional work experience in Events Planning, Conference Management, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Athletic Events and Game Operations at the collegiate level, or a related field.
3. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with a variety of populations.
4. Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in athletics administration or related field.
2. One (1) year or more of previous event management experience in Division 1 collegiate or professional athletics.
3. Supervisory experience including hiring, promotion and scheduling of staff for events, competitions and services.
Work Hours
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Frequent weekend and night availability required.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
