Job Summary
This position will assist in supporting students, faculty, and other campus affiliates with utilizing the lab space for recording, mixing, and other audio-related projects. This position will offer hands-on experience in audio engineering, studio management, and collaborative project work.
The majority of the graduate assistant's primary duties include but not limited to the responsibilities below:
1. Regularly inspect and maintain all studio and audio equipment (recording kits, synthesizers, MIDI controllers, microphones, mixers, interfaces, etc.)
2. Manage studio setup and teardown for recording sessions and ensure proper storage of equipment and supplies.
3. Manage the studio's booking system and schedule recording sessions.
4. Communicate studio policies and procedures to users.
5. Provide technical assistance to users during recording sessions.
6. Oversee recording sessions outside of class for CTK 203 - Foundations: Recording and Sampling.
7. Head a committee for the Audio and Music Production Showcase.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$755 for 0.25 FTE appointment
Required Qualifications
1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following academic programs: Communication, Marketing, MBA, Recreation Administration, Creative Technologies
3. Familiarity with one of the following areas: digital audio workstations (DAWs), mixing and mastering, audio interfaces, sound/audio equipment, and/or live sound.
