The primary purpose of the registrar/counseling office support is to provide support work with transcripts, grades, college forms, other forms, filing, admissions, phones and email, testing, transfer students, and registration. In addition, this position helps by greeting visitors, answering questions, answering and transferring calls, taking messages, sending for students as required by counselors, administration and staff, and arranging appointments.
The work for this position is subject to change in respect to administrative prerogatives and the tasks related to the semester schedule. The administration and this individual work in cooperation to assure a smooth working environment.
This is a year-round, 12-month position.
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. One year (12 months) of work experience comparable to the second level of this series.
3. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling two (2) years (24 months) of experience in the categories below:
a. work experience performing office/clerical activities, including use of computer systems
b. college or university course work in any curriculum
- twelve (12) semester hours = six (6) months
- twenty-four (24) semester hours = twelve (12) months
- thirty-six (36) semester hours = eighteen (18) months
- forty-eight (48) semester hours = twenty-four (24) months
1. Proficient in word processing and computer programs (i.e., Excel, Word) as well as other intermediate computer skills.
2. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in all work.
3. Excellent customer service skills.
4. Self-starter with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and work efficiently while handling numerous interruptions.
5. Basic knowledge of office practices and procedures.
6. Ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of 25 net w.p.m.
7. Working knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence and paragraph structure.
8. Knowledge of and ability to operate document production and standard office equipment.
9. Ability to follow routine written and oral instruction.
10. Skilled in oral and written communication.
11. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
12. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
13. Knowledge of Skyward software.
Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm with a 30-minute lunch
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
