Heartland Community College seeks applicants for a part-time Graduate Assistant for special research projects in the Executive Office for the 2020-21 academic year. The Graduate Assistant will interact with the President, members of the Cabinet, and Executive Office staff as well as faculty and staff from across the College. This position will conduct a major research project(s) on topics of need as determined by the President and/or Cabinet members and will provide a report on findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the President. Outcomes for the Graduate Assistant include increased understanding of community college operating structure, policies and procedures, and further development of research skills.
General Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Participate in training to become familiar with the overall structure and operations within the College
Assist the President with special projects for external organizations
Assist Grants Office on research for a grant submission
Attend Board of Trustees meetings as determined by the President
Participate in College Advisory Council (CAC) meetings
Attend various other meetings related to assigned projects and/or understanding of the College
Shadow Cabinet members and/or other College administrators in an effort to experience different leadership styles and methodologies
Maintain confidentiality of all records and documents
Facilitate referrals to appropriate campus resources
Meet individually on a regular basis with supervisor

3. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University
Proficient writing skills
Experience using Microsoft Office and research/stats tools and methods
