Provide a basic level of emergency medical services for university sporting events, concerts, and other large gatherings. Depending on the event, Redbird EMS personnel either work independently or in teams.
1. Current State of Illinois EMT license
2. Minimum six (6) months of medical experience which could include nursing, emergency medical/paramedic, or CNA experience.
Hours/schedule will be vary depending on frequency of campus events; not to exceed 28 per week.
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to lift 100lbs.
2. Ability to physically access, treat and move patients in Illinois State University facilities, including but not limited to venues with stairs, steep inclines and uneven terrain.
Must be currently licensed EMT-B, EMT-I or EMT-P in good standing in the State of Illinois

Extra Help employees are paid for hours worked only. They may work up to 900 hours.
Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University's supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.

A copy of your current EMT license MUST be uploaded along with your application in order to receive full consideration for this position. In addition, if applicable, individuals operating within the McLean County Area EMS System (MCAEMS) should attach a Letter of Good Standing in order to verify that EMT requirements are up to date.

You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
