The Director, Academic Labor and Employee Relations provides strategic and operational leadership to the Academic Labor & Employee Relations (ALER) section in the Provost’s Office. The ALER section will plan, negotiate, and administer labor contracts for ISU’s academic bargaining units; ISU currently has four academic bargaining units covering approximately 685 Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty, 550 instructional and clinical Non-Tenure Track Faculty, 125 Lab School employees, and 450 Graduate Teaching Assistants. In addition to management and oversight of academic labor contracts, the ALER section will consult with supervisory staff regarding performance issues for Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty, Non-Tenure Track Faculty, Faculty Associates at the University’s laboratory schools, and Graduate Assistants.

The majority of the graduate teaching assistants primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below: 1. Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory; 2. Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks; 3. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory; 4. Meet with and/or tutor students, mentor students in disciplinary writing, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab.

The Physics Department is seeking an Office Support Specialist - 49% FTE who will be responsible for clerical duties within the unit. Additional responsibilities include keeping confidential information, ability to develop, organize and collate significant amounts of data into readable formats; initiative to promote professionalism, unity, teamwork, and efficiency of operations.

This position supports the daily operations of the Office of Parking and Transportation. Duties are clerical in nature. Shifts will take place between 8am to 5pm.

Weld, braze, and solder, in order to physically maintain and repair chillers, boilers, pumps, air conditioning and related equipment pertinent to the heating, cooling and ventilation of campus buildings.

They supervise the student receptionist in the Office of Residential Life which includes the departments phone switchboard and Housing email box.

The Student Technology Specialist role will primarily be responsible for receiving, processing, and documenting all technology equipment that has been sent to surplus.

The student at the front desk will be the first point of contact for the Office of the President.

This position assists with all aspects of food production and service in our retail venues.

Campus Services/Grounds department is seeking a Student Office Assistant to provide day-to-day support for the staff.

The SUPERCHARGE grant is looking for an employee who can translate materials from English to Spanish and who can provide guidance and troubleshooting assistance for high school students and teachers at four Chicago Public Schools locations.

On-Air Student Hosts/Announcers host WGLT programs, either live or with pre-recorded breaks (voicetracks), under the supervision of WGLT's Program Director. Student Hosts/Announcers will use a combination of pre-built elements to build scripts for each break, then deliver that break in-studio. The position will be regularly evaluated ("airchecked") to ensure quality control.

The Graduate Assistant will assist the Competitive Sports team (Assistant Director and Coordinator) in the overall administration of the Competitive Sports program, which includes Sport Clubs and Intramural Sports Specific duties.

Working regular office hours for Conference Services and supervising evening and weekend events in the Alumni Center.
