Job Summary
The Department of Management (MGT) at Illinois State University is inviting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position in Strategic Management at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 16, 2026.
The primary teaching responsibilities will be courses in Strategic Management, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, along with other international courses (e.g., international business, international management and cross-cultural behavior in business) as needs dictate. Faculty in MGT typically teach a 3-3 load with enrollment in each course section capped around 40 students. Classes during the academic year are delivered face-to-face or hybrid. Research, teaching, and service duties will be divided 40/40/20 percent, respectively. The potential and commitment to do both high-quality teaching and research is expected. Standard appointment dates are August 16 to May 15.
The MGT department offers programs in International Business, Human Resource Management, Organizational Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, and Business Administration. Faculty in the department have published in top tier journals, such as AMJ, AMR, GSJ, ISR, JBR, JIM, JMS, JWB, LRP, MIR, R&D Management, SMJ and Technovation, among others.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$137,000 - $145,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications
Required Qualifications
(1) an earned doctorate (or ABD) in Strategic Management or International Business/Management from an AACSB-accredited institution.
(2) experience in teaching or assisting in one or more courses in strategic management or international business/management or a related management discipline,
(3) a record of research published in scholarly journals such as those listed on the ABDC, AJG, or other scholarly journals and/or evidence of a promising pipeline of research in-progress
(4) a demonstrated ability of oral proficiency in the English language, as mandated by state law.
