General Summary
Special event staffing consists of facilitating parking for customers during athletic and special
events requiring parking on campus. This includes cash handling, identification of permits, traffic control and ability to follow directions and assist customers in a manner which promotes a positive image for the University.
Extra Help Parking Attendants should be available to work scheduled football games, Band Day, Men's Basketball games, IHSA events, large concerts/programs held either at Redbird Arena and/or Braden Auditorium, and any other large parking details held on campus.
Additional Information
This position may be cross trained as a cashier at the pay lots located on campus, as needed, and
also in the office as needed for the Office of Parking and Transportation.
Required Qualifications
1. Knowledge of cashiering duties.
2. Accurate with math and currency.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Ability to assist customers in a friendly and positive manner.
5. General knowledge of two-way radio.
6. Reliable transportation to and from work site.
7. Ability to stand outdoors for extended periods.
Desired Qualifications
Previous traffic control or event parking experience is preferred.
Work Hours
Not to exceed 28 per week; Shift/hours based on events schedule.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions
2. Ability to stand for extended periods of time
3. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

Extra Help employees may only work up to a total of 900 hours. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
