Job Summary
Teaching Assistant in master’s degree home department:
The majority of the graduate teaching assistant’s primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below:
A. Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory.
B. Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks.
C. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory.
D. Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab, etc.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$1,473/month
Required Qualifications
1. Open only to applicants to the Applied Community and Economic Development Sequence (Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows Program OR Applied Community and Economic Development Fellows Program--SEE https://stevensoncenter.org/).
2. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
3. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University.
4. For teaching assistant positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
